Ray E. Barker is the pastor of New Hope Baptist Church. He has been with our church since 1989. He grew up in West Madison, WV and graduated from Scott High School in 1974. After high school, Pastor Ray attended and graduated from Mid-Western Baptist College in Pontiac, Michigan, where he obtained a B.R.E. (Bachelor of Religious Education) in 1980.
Pastor Ray has served as a Pastor, Youth Director, Christian School Administrator and teacher. He has also involved himself with many other areas of church related work.
He is currently employed by the Boone County School District as a bus operator. In 1975 Pastor Ray married Darlene Kennedy who is employed by National Vision in the Southridge Wal-Mart. They have two sons, Johnny and Samuel. Johnny has a degree in chemistry and a Masters in Industrial Hygene from Marshall University; Samuel has a degree in Accounting and a Law Degree from West Virginia University. Both are employed out of state.
With over thirty years of preaching, our Pastor is an able teacher and preacher of the Word of God.
